Welcome to Euro-Par'97
About Euro-Par
Euro-Par is the annual European Conference on Parallel Processing.
Its purpose is to gather people interested in any aspects of parallel
computing and parallel architectures. Euro-Par emerged in 1995
from the former CONPAR-VAPP and PARLE conference series. Euro-Par'95 was
held in Stockholm and Euro-Par'96, in the new workshop format, in Lyon.
About Euro-Par'97
Euro-Par'97 consists again of a large panel of workshops on all aspects
of parallel processing, from theory to practice, from academy to
industry. These workshops present the latest advances in their
respective domains and are chaired by major leading researchers in the
field.
They are framed by 6 high-level invited talks and introduced by
6 tutorials of general interest. 164 presentations take place, in 16
workshops and 6 parallel streams, each workshop ranging from
½ to 1½ days (take a look at the
programme!).
All presented papers are available at the conference in the proceedings
published by Springer-Verlag in the LNCS series. The contributions are
classified into distinguished papers (talk: 30 min, indicated with a star),
regular papers (talk: 30 min, without star) and short papers
(talk: 15 min).
About Passau
Passau
is an ideal venue for Euro-Par'97. Located at the fringe of the
Bavarian Forest, at the confluence of three major rivers (the Inn, the
Danube and the Ilz), and at the border to Austria and the Czech
Republic, it is an attractive yet cost-effective spot for visits and
vacations in the heart of the new and wider Europe.
What's new this year?
We have been able to reduce the conference fee significantly this year,
and are still able to offer an attractive social programme with events at
three of the four evenings included in the regular fee: a welcome
reception, a river cruise on the Danube with conference banquet and a Mayor's
reception at the town hall followed by a concert on the largest church
organ of the world. Tutorial fees have also been reduced from last year
and we are, again, offering a substantial student discount.
Finally, we are able to support a number of participants through individual
travel grants.
We are looking forward to welcoming you in Passau,
The Passau team.
